The Magenta 8-Channel Data Logger Kit has a number of hardware enhancements not present in the original design of August/ September 1999 Everyday Practical Electronics. It is still fully compatible with the original software but the new hardware allows future improvements to be made and allows the board to be used as a "testbed" or as the basis for a wide range of other projects based on the PIC16F877 chip. Kit contains preprogrammed chip, 8 EEPROMs, PCB case, all components and of course, full instructions.
New Features:
* Completely revised board layout - provides access pads for all PIC pins.
* Wiring reduced to minimum. Can be used without a case as a stand alone bare board unit.
* Plug-in LCD mounts directly onto pcb over PIC chip. Connection made between display R/W pin and PIC RA4 pin allows reading from LCD registers for advanced applications.
* Analogue inputs via 10 way SIL connector pins with 0 and protected +5 Volt pins
* External programming via 4 way SIL connector with series protection resistors in clock and data lines
* Serial data output and external clock input pins on 4 way SIL header with 0 and +5V
* Power connection to pcb mounted 2 way terminal block
* On/ off, Function select and setting push buttons may be mounted directly on the pcb, board may be mounted to front panel by switch fixings or display mounting studs.
* Dual rail-to-rail op-amp with one section uncommitted for user applications.
