EPE PIC™ Toolkit3 (Kit 880}

Magenta's fantastic new kit to accompany the acclaimed EPE Toolkit 3 is much improved over the basic EPE design (October 2001 issue). We added a printed component identification and layout details, and a green solder mask. The component layout has been altered in many small ways, but there is one major change - the 18 pin PIC™ programming socket has been turned round so that PIN 1 IS UPPERMOST! In the power supply area we added a standard DC power socket as well as the terminal block connector, and fitted a supply reversal protection diode! In the Centronics connector area we have added resistors to provide some protection to the Toolkit buffer chip and computer port in the event of accidental short circuits.

A spare area has been allowed for a 9 way pcb mounted serial connector. Many PIC™s including the 877 have serial I/O options and these will no doubt be used in the future.We have supplied high quality turned pin sockets for most of the major connection points. Note that Magenta are responsible only for the hardware in our kit which we have tested with the EPE Toolkit 3 software on a standard machine using "Windows® 95". Any problems with non-Magenta hardware or with the PIC toolkit software must be referred to the supplier or EPE magazine.
