Our 68000 Development and Training unit is an excellent tutorial system brought to you at an absolutely amazing price!
The Magenta Kaycomp II is an 8MHz 16-bit 68000-based single-board computer (SBC) which is used worldwide in schools and colleges as a training aid. Its versatility means that the Magenta Kaycomp II can also be used as a target system or embedded in other applications requiring dedicated computer control.
The Kaycomp II can be linked to most PCs via a single two-way serial link, so that code can be assembled and debugged using cross-assembler software, and then uploaded to the S-RAM on the Kaycomp II board.
Included in the comprehensive Kaycomp II specification are the following features:
* Monitor program in EPROM accepts assembled object code in standard Motorola S-format and allows it to be executed and examined. Full access provided by a serial link.
* Line-by-line assembler alongside the monitor program. Permits fast efficient entry into memory of short programs simply by typing standard 68000 assembler source code.
* Standard Peripherals - uses 68000 series peripheral i.c.s to provide serial and parallel I/O. Two serial ports via a 68681 DUART, and can be extended to have three 8-bit parallel ports and many other hardware functions by adding a 68230 PI/T into the supplied socket.
* I²C Interface - an optional area of the board allows a dedicated i.c. and support components to be added to provide full I²C facilities. Four-wire bus enables simple communications with a very wide range of peripheral i.c.s. including A/D, D/A, PLL, display drivers, memory and more.
The Magenta Kaycomp II is an enormously versatile development tool which is ready for a wide variety of applications both now and in the future.
Our kit includes a comprehensive manual, all components and screen printed double-sided PTH p.c.b. 234 x 160mm with solder mask. PSU available (extra), serial lead available (extra).
