This low-cost microcontroller-based project will help to reduce the level of scale build-up around your home. It is simple to build and far cheaper than commercial descaler units, and uses a ready-programmed PIC™ microcontroller for simplicity of construction. The PIC™ Water Descaler "sweeps" the incoming water supply with variable-frequency electromagnetic signals. This may help reduce scale formation, dissolve existing scale and improve lathering ability by modifying the way in which salts carried in the water behave. High-current coil ensures maximum effect, and independent constructors have reported encouraging results in use.
