This kit is a microchip controlled advance on our original P.I. (Pulse Induction) Treasure Hunter (Kit 815 now discontinued). Both the circuit design and the hardware have been updated in this latest much improved version.
Pulse induction metal detection relies on the electrical conductivity of buried objects. Thin-section material (e.g. aluminium foil) is not very conductive in this respect and is largely ignored. Solid objects such as coins, rings, nails etc. are much more conductive and are readily detected.
The PI Treasure Hunter is virtually free of "ground effect" although such designs cannot discriminate between ferrous or non-ferrous metals, and will therefore detect such metals equally alike. The treasure hunter is however very sensitive and is simple to build, being centred around a ready-programmed microcontroller of our own specification.
Full circuit description, and assembly details are included with every kit.
